Quick Yoghourt Bread PDF Print E-mail

This easy recipe is from my Food For Sport Cookbook. It makes 1 loaf.

4 cups wholemeal flour
2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tbsp honey
2 cups (500 ml) Jalna Natural Yoghourt
1 tsp salt (optional)
Topping (optional):  1 tbsp sesame seeds

  1. Place the wholemeal flour, unsifted in a large bowl.
  2. Add all remaining ingredients, except the sesame seeds.  Use a wooden spoon to mix lightly but well, until mixture is almost fluffy.
  3. Spoon mixture into the greased loaf tin.  Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  4. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 50 minutes – 1 hour, or until loaf sounds hollow when tapped.

To vary:  Add ½ cup of roughly chopped pecan nuts or walnuts.  Alternatively, try adding ½ cup of sunflower seeds or raisins
