After chatting with Dr Sue Shepherd on radio 3AW recently, I appeared on Channel 7’s Today Tonight to discuss the book she co-authored with Professor Peter Gibson - Food Intolerance Management Plan - and how people with food intolerances can help reduce symptoms like bloating.
I would highly recommend this book as it is a scientifically-developed program and comprehensive recipe book for those suffering from digestive disturbances like bloating, nausea, excessive flatulence and constipation and diarrhoea . Based on the revolutionary Low-FODMAP diet, it shows people with food intolerances how to enjoy their food while remaining free of the symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome and related conditions, such as gluten, fructose, lactose and wheat intolerances.
But the approach the book recommends is suitable for those with medically-diagnosed food intolerances, not for the average person seeking to lose weight, as elimination diets often restrict major food groups such as dairy or fruit. If you want to lose weight, it is a case of controlling portion sizes of all you eat and doing plenty of physical activity. You can see the segment by clicking on Today Tonight’s website. You can find the book in good bookstores or from Dr Shepherd’s website.
